What do I mean by “fire hose”? I have always had a tendency to want to impart too much information at one time. People ask me about a subject I'm interested in and instead of imparting a little information I dump a whole bunch all at once. So instead of giving someone a drink of water from the garden hose, I open up the fire hose and blow them away.
And so the tradition continues here. I want folks to hear my music so I'm building this website to showcase a lot of it. By no means all of it, but definitely the recordings, videos and stories that I deem worth sharing. But it's a lot of stuff going back 45 years. Bands I've been in, solo work I've done, songs I've written, stories about how the songs came about and about the people I've played music with and learned music from. There are links to music camps, bands, teachers, etc. And I've only just gotten started. I estimate that the site is about half the size it will eventually be when I deem it “finished”. It will never be totally finished as long as I'm alive and making music but the rate at which I add new content will naturally slow down when all the historical data is loaded.
So welcome to the Paul Fifield fire hose experience! And thanks for checking out my music and my musical journey. (6/18/24)
