In 2013 my friend Roger Choplin of Whiskey Hill Studios in Woodside, CA, contacted me and offered me a deal I ultimately couldn't refuse. He'd just obtained a Studer tape deck and needed a project on which to try it out. He quoted a price that was too attractive to refuse, so we settled on six songs, which we recorded live in his studio (I played and sang simultaneously as opposed to multi-tracking).
My goal was to have a CD that represented my solo singer/songwriter performances so I could use it as a demo to get gigs. Roger's goal was to see how well his new tape deck would perform. We were both happy with the results.
After tracking we handed the project off to Vince Hudson of Redwood City, CA, and he proceeded to apply his unique “mix-mastering” process to the raw tracks, essentially mixing and mastering at once.
The result was my CD “In The Land of My Heart”. The title is taken from a line in the song, “The Long Sorrow”. Further information about each song can be found by clicking the song links on either of the Song Lists pages of this website.
