NOTED
Paul Fifield, Jay Field, Rich Desideri, Luke Smith
2021 - Present
I joined Jay Field and Rocky Rohwedder in 2015. They had been playing as a duo for a number of years, sometimes adding a drummer, but to my knowledge, not a bassist. We played at least twice a year at White Oak Winery in the Alexander Valley in Healdsburg, CA, until the pandemic hit. During the pandemic the owner of White Oak decided to retire, and that ended that gig. We played in various configurations during those years, especially after Rocky left the band in 2018, usually with Ken McLaren on drums and John Dollar on guitar and vocals. We billed ourselves as Jay Field and Friends.
After Rocky left to relocate his family to Costa Rica we played some shows with John Dollar on guitar and vocals and Ken McLaren on drums. In late 2020 or early 2021 Jay's neighbor, Rich Desideri started playing with us, just jamming and learning songs in Jay's garage. Rich is a fine guitarist with lots of experience and soon it was evident his style offered an interesting contrast to Jay's. All we needed now was a drummer. Jay found Luke through a Craigslist ad and it soon became apparent that drumming style was also a good fit. He's also well versed in Grateful Dead material and plays occasionally as a second drummer with Lovin ‘Dead. So began NOTED, though for a couple of years we couldn’t settle on a name. We were still billing ourselves as Jay Field and Friends. I kept coming up with names and Jay kept rejecting them. Then one day he texted me with the suggestion of NOTED and I figured there was no way that it wasn't taken already. So I searched the internet and found only Dually Noted, a duo from Michigan. So we became NOTED.
We have a lot of fun playing classic rock, blues & R&B classics plus some originals. Just a lot of fun music. I'm lucky to be playing with such accomplished musicians. You know…. again.
