I wrote this song mostly in my head during commute times during the year 2000. The chord progression and melodies are simple, which support the simple message. I had my wife in mind as I wrote the lyrics, for obvious reasons, but really this is a universal narrative about how a good relationship can make each partner stronger. Couples who thrive together over many years have a way of grounding each other and supporting each other, thereby enhancing each others’ enjoyment of life and providing depth of feeling and understanding not otherwise available. They take each other home, to that safe place we all need to reside in. - Paul Fifield

You take me home, when you touch my hand
Whisper my name, then I understand
Across a million years, past a million fears
You take me home
You take me home, when we share our dreams
When we walk and talk, y’know it really seems
Like we’ve always been, even way back when
You take me home
We could be anyone, anywhere, anytime
It’s been this way since who knows when
This is the way it was, the way it is, & it’ll be
This way for all until the end
You take me home, when our bodies merge
When our hearts entwine, and our passions surge
It’s a timeless time, and it’s so sublime
You take me home
We could be anyone, anywhere, anytime
It’s been this way since who knows when
This is the way it was, the way it is, & it’ll be
This way for all until the end
You take me home, when you touch my hand
Whisper my name, then I understand
Across a million years, past a million fears
You take me home
