After a life-changing move from a home my wife and I had lived in for 26 years, to a new town and area in which I had no connections to other songwriters, I found it hard to restart my songwriting efforts. I joined a local band in 2015 and that kept my hand in playing music but it wasn't until the pandemic hit in 202 that I began to write and produce songs again. The pandemic woke me up, so to speak, because in those early days none of us felt certain we could survive. I decided I wanted to get some more songs recorded and distributed.
These nine songs represent multiple eras. I wrote Whiskey River in 1978, rewrote the last verse in 2013, and finally recorded it for this album. Most of the other songs were written during a fairly prolific period between 2010 and 2013.
I debated trying to play all the instruments myself, as I'd pulled off in 2010, but decided that time was of the essence, so I turned to BIAB to generate the backing tracks (instruments). That has now become my go-to process because the quality is very good (better musicians than I) and I've become proficient at bending BIAB to my will.
The “info” link for each song lists the artists who played the instruments.
